Designed to celebrate 100 years of Disney with a theme park icon, 43222 Disney Castle revisits a recent concept with lots of details to spot.
This new model follows in the footsteps of 71040 The Disney Castle, which remained on shelves for six years before retiring in 2022, so suffice it to say there could be a long life ahead for 43222 Disney Castle.
43222 Disney Castle launches July 1 for VIP members for £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 and will go on general sale at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores on July 4. We’ve poured through the official images and found a few things worth highlighting in our latest visual guide.
In case it wasn’t clear in the name, 43222 Disney Castle is a recreation of the iconic fortress seen at the start of most Disney movies and the castle that appears in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The theme park icon arguably necessitated the need for an updated model, as it was repainted in 2021, five years after 71040 The Disney Castle launched.
As well as the exquisite exterior with a plethora of eye-catching building techniques and a slightly larger footprint than the previous Disney castle, 43222 Disney Castle has an interior to explore too, but more on that in a moment.
43222 Disney Castle includes eight total minifigures. These are Snow White, Prince Florian, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Tiana, Prince Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. Out of this selection, Snow White, Prince Florian, Cinderella, Prince Charming, Prince Naveen, Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are exclusive as Tiana is featured in 71038 Disney 100.
These minifigures are likely to be a must for Disney enthusiasts, not just because the set finally gives us icons such as Snow White and Cinderella as minifigures, but also for the fun details including Flynn’s smoulder face print.
Inside 43222 Disney Castle, the layout is similar to that of 71040 The Disney Castle. However, some of the rooms have changed. Of course, it’s also packed with references and details to find. There are a few rooms with only one item, due to space, as well as the main room on the ground floor, a kitchen, dining room and bedroom too.
The included minifigures can be posed throughout the castle. In the main ground floor room, there’s even a turntable to have a couple elegantly dance together under the impressive chandelier.
Just like 71040 The Disney Castle, Easter eggs are everywhere in 43222 Disney Castle. The wider catalogue of Disney movies is featured including Moana through a tapestry, Snow White’s Magic Mirror, Rapunzel’s painting from Tangled and more.
As well as the many references, the fireworks suspended mid-explosion add a touch of magic to the overall appearance of the set.
With the gold detailing on the outside and the addition of the fireworks, 43222 Disney Castle is certain to make a statement on display. It measures 80cm tall, 59cm wide and 33cm deep, according to the press release, so you’ll need a fairly big surface to show it off.
After sinking £344.99 / $399.99 / €399.99 into the set, that’s likely the first thing you’ll want to do though as, now that 71040 The Disney Castle has retired, 43222 Disney Castle is something that everyone is likely to recognise.
The brand new LEGO Disney 100th anniversary set launches July 1 for VIP members and July 4 for everyone else, at LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores.

Jack Yates LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
